About Rodgers-Olver-Polley Insurance, Inc.
Company History
In 1948, following service in the South Pacific in WWII and the completion of study at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business, Frank Rodgers, Jr. opened the first office of Rodgers Insurance Agency on Church Street in Hawley.
Growing the agency through new business growth and merger and acquisition of the Bentley Brothers agency whose roots went back to the 1890’s, the move was made from Hawley to Main Street in Honesdale in the early 1960’s where the name changed from Rodgers Insurance to Rodgers-Olver Insurance Agency to Rodgers-Olver-Polley, Inc. as it remains today. In 1966, an office was opened in downtown Scranton, operating in addition to the Lake Ariel, Hawley and Honesdale locations. In 1971 the agency built and moved into the present office building at 918 Church St in Honesdale and continues to have branch offices in Dunmore and Milford.
Peter Rodgers joined the agency in 1975 and became president of the corporation in 1980 and in 1984, following the death of Frank Rodgers, Jr, purchased the agency becoming president and chairman of the board. In 2005, John Hollister joined the firm as Vice-President and partner focusing his energies on growing the agency’s presence in the Milford, Pike County area.
